NEWSLETTER NOVEMBER 2024
Our customers, their aircrafts…
Air rally, precision flying, ANR, etc.
In early 2023, together with his friend Pascal Aupy (mayor of Charenton-du-Cher), they decided to buy their own aircraft. They made enquiries and visited several aircraft showrooms, but struggled to find a machine, as they wanted their future aircraft to be powered by a Rotax engine, to be four-seater, fairly modern and not too expensive to buy. It was at the Airexpo 2023 show in Lyon (France) that Thierry and Pascal discovered the MCR-4S. Bingo! The aircraft had all the right features. It was love at first sight..
Some time later, in September 2023, they find a second-hand MCR-4S, more precisely… in the ‘Sales’ section of our website, owned by none other than Gilles Maguet (Customer of the month in December 2022)! Registered F-PGMC, it is powered by a 115hp Rotax 914, was built in 2008 and has 800 flying hours on the clock. The aircraft is in good condition, but has been entrusted to our teams at SE Aviation Aircraft for a major overhaul until June 2024, when Thierry and Pascal take delivery.
On board, all the upholstery has been refurbished, and the aircraft now has a two-axis autopilot and two Dynon Skyview HDX displays. In terms of safety, it is equipped with an airframe parachute, and the owners plan to get our new flap control system installed soon.
From the outside, the aircraft, which was immaculate white when they bought it, now has two stylish black and red stripes on the fuselage. This pattern is repeated on the winglets and wheel fairings.
Among the future modifications to the F-PGMC, for Thierry and Pascal, having more on-board storage for documentation would be perfect. Indeed, the two men are used to taking a lot of documentation with them on flights, since they fly air rallies with their MCR-4S…
In fact, just a few days after receiving their MCR-4S, they were already competing in regional selections and, at the end of June 2024, lined up for the French Precision Flying Championships. The aircraft then took part in the French Air Rally Championships (30 August – 1st September 2024), but Pascal was not free.
So Thierry flew with Anne Borgat as co-pilot. Also with her, from 20 to 22 September, he took part in the French ANR championships, where Thierry and Anne finished second! A very encouraging result, given that to date, these pilots and friends have only clocked up 70 flying hours on their MCR-4S.
Those who were used to taking part in these competitions on DR400s are still amazed by the performance of the F-PGMC: “We had to adapt to this new machine, but it was quite quick, especially as the MCR-4S is more stable than a DR400. There’s less turbulence, which is surprising for a carbon structure. In addition, the aircraft is much more comfortable”, explains Thierry.
Thierry and Pascal have no intention of stopping there: with their MCR-4S, they will be taking part in the 2025 competitions. We can’t wait to see their results.
And we have no doubt whatsoever that the 2025 season will be an excellent one for them. And with good reason: when it comes to being precise at the controls, good pilots in good aircraft are bound to perform well. Good flights to them!
When Thierry talks about his MCR-4S…
AWith 230 km/h and 20L/H, the performance of our MCR-4S is excellent. It’s perfect for travelling with our wives. In rallying, it’s really stable and requires very few parameter corrections. That’s a real advantage for me: I can concentrate on the routes. Compared to the DR400, we have more space on board. It’s much better!
What’s also good, compared with the DR400, is that we have the same parameters for downwind, approach and landing. In simple terms, it’s a DR400, but much better, more modern, more economical and above all faster! In short, Pascal and I have absolutely no regrets about buying it. Quite the opposite, in fact!
QUOI DE NEUF CHEZ SE AVIATION AIRCRAFT?
E-Props’ Glorieuse available on Sportster
As a reminder, the Glorieuse is a three-blade carbon propeller with a superb design that reduces pitch control effort. More powerful and quieter, it allows you to exploit the full potential of your Rotax.

In winter, you take care of your MCR!
In a month’s time, it’ll be winter. And if you’re not one of those people who likes to fly over snow-capped peaks (or who takes their machine to go to winter sports), this is the perfect season to pamper your MCR…
We therefore suggest you think about:
- your AC159-a maintenance declaration, which must be stamped by OSAC,
- consult the latest version of your maintenance manual, which is available to download for free on our website (as are all operating documents),
- keep up to date with our service bulletins and those of our suppliers (Rotax, MT Propeller, E-Props, etc.),
- have your airframe parachute repacked and its pyrotechnic system maintained/replaced.
